Moved to the vape and was able to get off cigs again, but then when I tried to quit the vape I went right back to the cigs (oral fixation). Finally decided to try the gum and that's working for me. I can definitely see that I'm addicted to the gum, but I'm currently OK with that. The cigs are absolutely murder - even the cig companies will tell you that. I'm getting ready to start reducing the gum now, although they say wait six weeks. I've begun to mix in regular gum (trident layers - strawberry orange - yum). My biggest problem seems to be with eating. I used to weigh 450 pounds and dropped 250 in prison. I was able to keep it off over the last year while outside, but as soon as I gave up both the cigs and the vape I started eating like a madman. I'm up to 230 and as I type this at 6:00 AM I'm thinking about some pretty abusive breakfast foods. Funny thing? I'm vegan! Doesn't seem to matter. I can't stop with the refined sugar and carbs right now - and that's a disaster for me as I was Type II Diabetic and reversed that with the weight loss. Now I'm panicked that the eating will bring the Type II back... and that panic makes me want to eat. Ack! Anything is better than smoking combustable cigs, though.
