Feeling bloated and some difficulty breathing. | This drug was prescribed to relieve hot flashes brought on by the Viadur implant placed in my arm after radioactive seed therapy(Brachytherapy)for prostate cancer. This drug did relieve the hot flashes but the side effects worse than the cure. I will have a biopsy and/or D&C or surgery and go from there. Quality of life is everything! When I was on the low dose tricyclic birth control, it changed my menstrual symptoms for the better. I had no clue about the nightmare ahead. What happens when you finally get off of or take yourself off this medication? Do you actually get better? No one knows! My doctor could not tell me how much longer would have my PERIOD and associated symptoms. Do your research and take control over your health. By the way, insist on sedation if you are going to have an in-office uterine biopsy due to Covid-19, etc. It is extremely painful even though the cervix is numbed. Your doctor will have to prescribe a controlled substance. | I was shocked when I had these violent symptoms after having had no symptoms for the first month I had been taking Aygestin. There is a significant list of medications that Aygestin and its generic form, norethidrone acetate, react with. Although, by simply taking 3 Advils in the morning and 3 Advils at night (I didn't know tha Advil helped a lot with bleeding from the uterus) would have helped, before taking Aygesting. This is must not be good for my health. I cannot take 12 days of this! Dosage changed to 5 mg per day. Still feel fatigued and lost interest in going to the gym. The bleeding is gone along with the painful cramps. Don't think I would stay on this longer than 6 weeks because of the headaches. My other option is hysterectomy which I am postponing for now. AYGESTIN (NORETHINDRONE ACETATE): This medication is used to treat women with abnormal bleeding from the uterus. It is also used to treat women who have stopped having menstrual periods for several months (amenorrhea) but who are not pregnant or going through menopause. In addition, this medication is used to treat a condition (endometriosis) in which tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus is found outside the uterus in the abdomen/pelvic area, causing painful/irregular periods. Norethindrone is a type of female hormone (progestin). It is like the hormone progesterone that your body makes naturally. This medication works by stopping the normal growth of the uterus lining during the menstrual cycle and signaling hormone changes in the uterus to restore normal menstrual periods.
