5 | Insomnia due to a medical condition | No side effects, no "hangover," worked incredibly well. | I have taken Restoril many times from 15 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg, even 60 mg. Highly effective better than Ambien, Lunesta, or Imovane. | M | 21 | 1 years 30 mg 2X day | 2/9/2010 | 5 | chronic lifelong insomnia | amazingly, none whatsoever | I have been an insomniac all my life. No matter how hard I try, I have to take a sleeping pill. In the 70s I took Dalmane, which gives you a horrible hangover, then the 80's came with the wonder drug halcion, which i took for a very long time, but it started not to work. I went on restoril 30 mg every night, and to this day it works perfectly. I don't care about the addiction aspect, any chronic insomniac like me would tell you that you're better off being addicted to a sleeping pill than not being able to sleep. I have no intention of ever going off of these. | M | 42 | 10 years 30mg 1X day | 10/25/2010 | 5 | Chronic Insomnia | none significant. | Best hypnotic ever tried. Has never lost efficacy, nor has any tolerance developed. Sleep 8 hours a night, going on 12 years. LIFE SAVER!!! | M | 28 | 12 years 45mg 1X day | 2/8/2011 | 5 | chronic insomnia | None. | Works best if I only take it every 10 days and alternate with Lunesta 2mg. I take one or the other about every 4 to 5 days. I usually go through H in-between with not much sleep. I get a good 7 hours sleep with Temazepam and it also calms my anxiety. Lunesta does nothing for anxiety but it is a good sleeper. | M | 61 | 7 years 15 mg 1X day | 3/2/2011 | 5 | Insomnia | Stimulation of appetite. | I first experienced using Restoril when it first came out in 1981, and have been back to it for the past couple of years. It is the benzodiazepine I have used the most (second most was clonazepam). I prefer temazepam over all other benzos for sleep because of its ideal lenghth of effect and relatively low addiction potential. There is one particular note of importance regarding this medication: To avoid tolerance, use the stimulant Provigil. Somehow, Provigil used in the morning obliviates tolerance problems that temazepam tends to do otherwise. As recent as yesterday, I let my psychiatrist know that little tid-bit. I recommend that anyone using Restoril notify their doctor of that recommendation. | M | 43 | 14 years | 9/13/2005 | 5 | insomnia | none really just sometimes i will have strange dreams | taking wellbutrin xl which gives energy and keeps me awake sometimes.on 15mg restoril sometimes take 30mg about 45 minutes to 1 hour before bed.it works good dont wake up until alarm goes off.no drugged feeling in morning.ambien made me groggy next day. | M | 40 | 5 weeks | 3/26/2007 | 5 | to sleep | none | very effective | M | 72 | 5 months | 8/19/2005 | 5 | insomnia | Dry mouth upon awakening | If you have occasional insomnia, this is a pretty great drug. I take a 30mg capsule. In about 30 minutes, I hit the sack. I don't feel "drugged" per se, but I sleep and I stay asleep. I never take more than 2 a week, so my usage is infrequent. As such, I have zero dependency issues. Highly recommended for occasional use as needed. | M | 35 | | 12/16/2006 | 5 | Insomnia from stress | none | started with 7.5mg, and now take 1-4 capsules per night, so I have the flexibility to take 7.5mg, or 15mg, or 22.5mg or 30mg, depending upon how stressed, restless and NOT sleepy I am | M | 31 | 90 days | 7/13/2006 | 5 | Sleep problems. | Some blackouts if taken too early before bed. Taste changes with food. Rebound insomina after two or more weeks of nightly use. Some | M | 43 | 10 years | 11/19/2004 | 5 | Get a good night's sleep | None whatsoever. | I don't take other medication so I don't experience interaction with other drugs. Previously I would wake up every three hours. Now I sleep 6 hours straight. I feel energized in the morning. | M | 71 | 5 days | 7/23/2005 | 5 | insomnia | none - other than gradually losing its effectiveness due to tolerance. | I take 30 mg and it works beautifully with no apparent side effects other than you build tolerance after a couple of weeks. I'm starting to wake up too early, which was the main problem to begin with. I take it only 5 nights a week. On weekends, I substitute Remeron (7.5mg ) to try and minimize tolerance to temazepam. | M | 37 | 60 days | 4/30/2007 | 5 | Insomnia and Anxiety | Was prescribed 30 capsules of 30mg. After taking the 30mg before bedtime, I would still be awake for hours, so I would have to take another 30mg about 3 hours later but would still wake up every 90 minutes, however this time I would actually fall back asleep easily. No euphoria, just slight dizziness and very minor memory loss. In the morning no adverse effects at all. I am very much UN-concerned about addiction and though benzo withdrawl is unpleasant, try to keep a reserve stash for emergencies, or taper down in dosage before running out before refill time. This sort of discipline goes a long way. | I have tried everything from herbs to beer to Ambien. Nothing worked. I find Restoril a mild anxiolytic compared to say Xanax. For insomnia there is no equal. I think there is a stigma against benzos and narcotic-type painrelievers for that matter. Fact is though, you have to do something or you may just lose your mind. I was a nighttime manic and daytime zombie before I had enough and just came out and plainly asked for Restoril. I'm glad I did. | M | 44 | 2 months | 9/20/2007 | 5 | Insomnia | Amnesia if someone call me during my deep sleep. It's seems that it's acting liek a thruth serum for me.Big dependance. | I tried many stuff like remerond, desyrel, immovane, valium etc.. It's the only stuff who work for me. I have 8 great hours of sleep and when i wake up. I'm pumped-up to do my day fresh and complrtly on the top. Best stuff out there for me. Saved my life | M | 30 | 2 years | 5/27/2008 | 5 | Insomnia, restless leg syndrome | No side effects at all | I had severe insomnia and was only getting a couple of hours sleep, at best, and no sleep at all, at worst. After trying several other sleep medications, I was finally given Restoril, which worked. I take 15mg which is good enough for me. Since I have been taking this long term, my doctor has me alternating Restoril with other sleep meds. I was alternating with Dalmane every few weeks, but now I am alternating with generic Ambien. | M | 46 | 9 years | 10/14/2009 | 5 | Insomnia | None | I take it 2 - 3 times a week as needed for sleep. Works great. Make sure to get in bed immediately after taking. | M | 27 | 6 months 30 mg 1X AN | 2/25/2014 | 5 | Insomnia | None | I loved this for insomnia--it was just the right strength to allow me to fall asleep within a normal time frame without making me overly sedated should I stay up on it. I could fall asleep in 20 minutes on it whereas without it took me hours. If I took it and chose to stay up and read or watch TV, it did not incapacitate me. Very smooth, very mellow, and it worked. | M | 29 | 4 months N/A 1X day | 12/17/2014 | 5 | Insomnia | I have been taking half a capsule a night 4 to 5 nights a week. It has been extremely effective with minimal side effects much better than those from insomnia. While my doctor is confident that it is quite safe I am not sure I have the same level of confidence. Studies appear to indicate it is safer than most other benzodiazepines but it feels time to rid myself of what has become a dependence. For short term use I have found nothing better. | M | 58 | 10 years 15mg | 3/28/2015 | 5 | insomnia | Morning hangover | Well I usually only review drugs when they are terrible, but this one was actually pretty good. I've been dealing with insomnia for several months now and was prescribed restoril. It put me out quickly and would keep me out for about 7 hours. I would recommend this one. I also tried ambien. It was good too, just a little less sleep but no hangover at all. | M | 27 | 7 days 30 mg | 4/27/2016 | 5 | To Get A Great Hypnotic High | One of the best High's Ever, withdrawal is tough. | Under 90 m.g. Need not apply!! | M | 57 | 10 years 90 m.g. | 1/31/2017 |
RESTORIL (TEMAZEPAM): This medication is used to treat a certain sleep problem (insomnia). It may help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and lessen how often you wake up during the night, so you can get a better night's rest. Temazepam belongs to a class of drugs called sedative-hypnotics. It acts on your brain to produce a calming effect. Use of this medication is usually limited to short treatment periods of 1 to 2 weeks or less. If your insomnia continues for a longer time, talk to your doctor to see if you need other treatment.
