5  Irritable Bowel Syndrome none I have been experiencing constant stomach pain for about two years. My pain worsened after eating. I was diagnosed with IBS and prescribed several medications, but none seemed to help much. My P.A. said she wanted me to try a medication which is an anti-depressant, but had been found to help lots of other symptoms. I am very sensitive to medication and was prescribed 10mg Pamelor, one each night. After being on this medication for a few weeks, I began to feel much better. Now, I am able to eat anything without experiencing pain. F 30 days

After I take it I get headaches and I sleep for over 14 hours a night. I am never hungry but i am constantly gaining weight. Stared cutting and thought about other ways to hurt myself. Help.  2  Migraines and depression Severe dizziness and lightheadedness, nausea, stomach ache, abdominal cramps, constipation, loss of appetite, aggravated my tachycardia (I have SVT), drowsiness during the day, insomnia during the night, muddled thoughts, difficulty concentrating This medicine did not decrease my migraines at all, and the only effect it had on my depression was causing my moods to seem more stabilized - stabilized at depression. I took 50mg per day, I tried taking it in the morning and the evening, and splitting up the dose, it still caused me severe drowsiness (I was practically a narcoleptic) during the day, and inability to sleep at night. I would not recommend taking this medication if you have SVT and are not on a medication to treat it. F 16 1 months

1  Migrane/Depression/Sleep Aid Fatigue, fast heart rate, nausea, dizziness, chestpain, and difficulty concentrating. For about half a year now I've been getting steadily more frequent and more intense migranes. I've tried almost every kind of medication for it. While most of the others simply didn't work this one actually made me feel worse. Not only did I get all the side effects, but my migranes have persisted as well. And I take it at bedtime to try to make me sleep, but it only makes me tired the following day it seems. It's been difficult to move around much for the last day; I have almost zero energy.  1  daily migraines extreme drowsiness/fatigue, overheating, more headaches, too tired to function Wouldn't recommend taking nortriptylin... On a considerably cool day, I always felt as if it were burning up. The migraines went away at first, but even when my dosage was doubled, they still came back. F 16 6 months

3  Migraines anxiety acted up after the first few days taking it. heart beat racing. blood presure up. i had anxiety attacks almost everyday. they checked my heart to see if there was any problems with it and there was nothing wrong with it all they could figure out was that it was this medicine that was making my anxiety and heart rate act up so bad.  4  Migraine, depression weight gain This is the first thing to help my migraine headaches. My headaches were so severe I couldn't go a day without vomiting from them and could barely function. Now I never have to vomit from a headache. I still get daily headaches but they are at a much more tolerable level and I can function again. This medicine has caused weight gain and I have only been taking it three weeks. It also has started to relieve my depression so this medicine is worth the weight gain. F 19 3 weeks

3  Migraine Prevention Hypomania, Gas I have been waking up with horrible migraines for a year and a half and I have tried beta blockers and topamax which didn't help at all and these are the first days I have woken up without horrible migraines. I just started it so the migraine was still present but I was able to function so much better for the first time. The only problem is it triggered hypomania but I have suspected for sometime that I might have bipolar disorder F 19 2 days

3  Tension headaches WEIGHT GAIN, sugar cravings This drug helped me at first, my headaches were not constant and I could function during the day. Eventually it stopped working and I switched drugs. I didn't mind Pamelor. The weight gain was crazy though. I gained like 50 pounds. Also a definite sugar craving. I would recommend this drug if you don't mind the weight gain F 19 2 years
