4  Atypical facial pain Tiredness - mostly overcome with time. Now trying to withdraw from several years of taking 25 mg/day and the withdrawal symptoms are hard to live with. GI disturbances, gas, chronic gut noises, headache, restlessness. You are supposed to slowly decrease the dosage, but when you are taking the minimum and the drug is in capsule form there is no way to go but cold turkey. M 73 2 days

2  Chronic pain & burning in leg I was told it would also help me sleep but it didnt. I just read that it can cause sensitivity to sun and skin rash, and I have had severe breaking out with red spots all over, & Dr. said was a conbination of medication reaction & allergy to sun, wish I had know this a year ago. I am stopping it now. I was not informed of these side effects when I started taking it or would not have. I have had a sensitivity to the sun for several years & my doctor knew this. I will be sure he knows this. F 69 12 months

2  migraine Used very low dosage but it caused sleep interruption; inability to focus or concentrate at work -- my productivity plummeted; dry, fuzzy mouth -- but worst of all: migraines increased. F 62 5 weeks

1  Depression Possibly permanent vision changes, compulsive nibbling Prior to starting Pamelor had vision checked by an ophthalmologist (eye Dr.) Got blurry vision about a week after starting Pamelor 25mg. It didn't go away, so had vision rechecked. It had definitely changed. I talked with my psychiatrist who took me off Pamelor and put me on Prozac which is not known to cause eye problems. Today, 6 weeks after discontinuing the Pamelor, my vision has improved compared to being on the drug, but is still blurry and according to the eye doc has not improved to what it was before starting the drug. So I need to put out $150 for new glasses. M 61 1 months

4  depression/panic disorder constipation, dry mouth, dermatitis, rapid heartbeat This med helped me cope with a major depression/panic disorder about 13 years ago. It was most effective for the first few years. Gabapentin and alprazolam helped mitigate the anxiety. I stopped taking it over a year ago- It had outlived its usefulness. I mistakenly thought it contributed to a urinary problem (most likely was a separate- age related issue) However, the drying effects of this drug can mess with your digestive and urinary system. All in all, it was much more helpful than not- especially since I was terrified of ssri's after a miserable experience with zoloft. M 60 12 years

4  Migraines and depression/anxiety Can't sleep at night but sleep during day well. Flushing of face and body ? from this. Was taking citalapram also but stopped this 2 weeks ago and have been anxious/nervy at work but will see if gets better. Only thing that works for my migraines. Was having them daily and taking 6 ibrufen and valium to get to work at night. Got ulcers and now had operation on stomach so as acid does not reach ulcers as would not heal. Wish I had known about Norpress earlier. Spent alot of money on acupuncture, chiropractor etc with no luch. F 60 1 years

3  Migraines Weight gain immediately and no real change to migraines. Helped somewhat with daily but continued severe migraines with menstrual cycle. Could not take generic and brand cost a fortune. Tried to go off after menopause and had severe anxiety and depression. Dr. Said probably could not stop taking after this many years. Have tried multiple times to ween off but haven't had any success. F 59 20 years

2  anxiety After two good years on Pamelor (it did help me with anxiety) I gradually experienced more and more spells of racing heartbeat, until one scary night it raced all night. The Urgent Care doctor didn't know why this would happen after two good years, but when I saw my primary care physician she'd just had another patient with the same experience who had to stop taking it, as I did. I started Pamelor because SSRI drugs make me worse, so now I am "on" exercise, meditation, counseling only. F 57 2 years

1  Migraine I was very drowsy but as that wore off I was very agitated and I was hearing voices in my head. My ears won't stop ringing now. I don't know if I will ever be back to normal. This is a scary drug. Here are some of its side effects. Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); blurred vision or other vision changes; changes in sex drive; chest pain; confusion; constipation; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; fever; frequent or difficult urination; hallucinations; impulsive behavior or other unusual changes in behavior; jaw, neck, or muscle spasms; mental or mood changes (eg, increased anxiety, mood swings, agitation, irritability, nervousness, restlessness); panic attacks; ringing in the ears; seizures; severe dizziness or drowsiness; sore throat; stomach pain; suicidal thinking or behavior; swelling of the testicles; tremor; trouble sleeping; trouble walking or keeping your balance; twitching of the face or tongue; uncontrolled movements of arms and legs or stiffness; unusual bleeding or bruising; worsening of depression; yellowing of the skin or eyes.  4  Depression Weight gain, carb cravings, constipation, tireness, heartburn (if taken on empty stomach), some sexual fixation Best of the antidepressants that I have tried, but weight gain is difficult to cope with. Carb cravings are uncontrollable. 50mg was the minimally effective dose. I tired to lower it to 25mg to control weight gain, but the anti-depressant effect was lost. M 56 6 months

4  Aid for Sleep/ Muscle Pain-10MG day Weight Gain-in a year of taking it I gained weight, it will not budge no matter what I do. If, in fact, its the Pamelor. Other than I cannot relate any significant bad effects @ taking 10mg per night. Is is possible that I feel like decision-making thoughts are sometimes skewed and I am not myself. Don't know if I can attribute this to the Pamelor or not. F 54 12 days
