| 5 | Panic Disorder, Sleeping Problems | Great when you need it, but don't exceed it. I kept my use responsible for years (twice a week) and there was a crisis last year. As a result, I was taking it daily and eventually developed a dependence. Had to taper using the Ashton Manual, it took six months to get off of 1.5mg. I still plan to use it (or lorazepam) as-needed but will use discretion because these drugs are very, very useful. | Use the Ashton Manual if you are dependent! All you need is a scale, a razor blade for measuring, and a whole lot of patience. The good news is you won't have scary withdrawals, it should not interfere with your daily life. The bad news is it takes forever. If you need help, my inbox is open. I can help you develop a tapering schedule. I had an MRI done & they discovered several deficits in my frontal lobes as well as other parts of my brain—that are most likely related to the drugS. I can’t even read a book now & I was an avid reader. You get hooked on them before you know it. Benzo will help you at first but destroy you in the end. Read what Stevie Nicks warns people about Klonopin. She said it destroyed her life for 8 years and I can testify that she is telling the truth. I had to go to rehab to get off it and my withdrawal symptoms we're worse than heroin addicts. People write good reviews when they are taking the drug but don't realize the hellish withdrawal symptoms when you are taken off it. You will rue the day you ever took your first pill. This is a drug from hell. | M | 46 | 8 years 4 Mg | 8/4/2018 | 5 | Burning Mouth Syndrome | Absolutely none---this drug worked wonders for me in alleviating the pain of a fairly rare nerve condition | I developed Burning Mouth Syndrome approx. 7 years ago. It is a nerve condition which makes your mouth feel as if you've just chewed up a jalapeno pepper---plus teeth hurt, sinuses hurt, etc. Within three days of starting Klonopin my pain, which had been debilitating for over a year, virtually disappeared. Over the years I have tapered my dosage down from 2 mg. a day, and now rarely take more than 1 mg. daily. Sometimes I'll take 1.5 if I have breakthrough pain---but virtually never need or want the full 2 mg. daily which I am prescribed. I usually split the pill and take one half at noon, the other at bedtime. If I forget to take a dose, as I sometimes do, I feel no effects until a burning feeling occurs in my mouth---otherwise nothing. I know this drug isn't for everybody, but if it works for you, it works well. The only thing I hate about it is how badly you get hassled by drug regulatory laws which, in this state, force me to go to my doctor every 3 months for "monitoring" if I want to maintain my prescription. I do wish Klonopin worked a little better to alleviate anxiety, from which I also suffer, but I'm just grateful that it works for the BMS, because that in itself is a very anxiety-producing condition. While none of them are perfect permanent solutions, and some issues are bound too occur, I'd take klonopin over any other. My new Dr decided to cut my script to half a miligram 2 x a day. Oh I am also hypo thyroid ( I feel like I could crawl out of my skin) when my thyroid decides to torture me. Now I wish I would have filled even though I didn't need them. I don't drink or use drugs. My throid began I accepted the 2 pills a day. I helped an individual with nothing but problems. A stolen vehicle a third of my meds walked out. I went 7 days with out clonnapin, on the 4 the day it was getting bad. Short story on the 7 the day I was going over the edge. I must tell you with my COPD I felt so tight, could not move anything. The clonnapin opens up my lungs. Also I can't eat with the high throid only to survive. After my partial fill. I can eat, in fact I am binge eating. My nerves are settling down. FANTASTIC! The Dr asked me why I didn't come in sooner. I wish I would have. I am now after 10 hours feeling normal. I want to ask all Dr WHY at my age would any Dr. ever try to cut my meds. I have never been in any trouble. It can destroy your memory. | It's been called "The Velvet Hammer". It took me 2 years of medically supervised "cold turkey" withdrawal. Worry about discontinuing, along with brain fog to increase in Alzheimer's disease. Considering only the Botox every three months. Really helps until about 10 days before appointment. | For tardive dyskinesia there is a new drug specifically for this diagnosis: Ingrezza. I am going to research this drug. I want off of Klonopin.
