| 2 | UTI | Got prescribed the 3 day dose for UTI. Could only take 3/6 pills. Had to be switched to Augmentin. I was jittery and anxious. I had brain fog, weakness, extreme fatigue, tingling in both my arms. Day 2 off taking this I developed bilateral shoulder blade pain and a slight cough.. hopefully that goes away soon. Its only been 12 hours since I stopped taking it and the brain fog and tingling and anxiety has subsided. Still having fatigue, shoulder pain and slight cough. First 2 days I had no side effects at all . Woke up on day 3 with a very stiff neck and had pain on the left upper part of my neck that radiated down my shoulder and back. Started to feel edgy by day 3 as well and this is also when I started waking in the middle of the night and having difficulty getting back asleep. Each day the anxiety got worse until day 5 .....that was the day I had had enough. By day 5 I was exhausted because I couldn't get any sleep at night , constantly felt nauseous, my lower back and sides where sore with an dull pain that would not let up . My anxiety was through the roof at this point ....I had trembling hands and felt like a nervous wreck. Not to mention I had zero appetite. I took this medication exactly as prescribed..... I drank lots of water and took the medication with food but it still didn't make a difference. Once I stopped taking it I noticed some relief within the first day and my neck pain had almost completely subsided .....by day 3 I was almost myself again. Dr prescribed Monurol instead . Cleared up UTI with zero side effects. My advice is to go to your Dr right away if you have bothersome side effects, don't try to power through them . Got a good night's sleep and woke up with more energy than I had the past 4 days. Still can't smell tho. Stopped taking it 43 hours ago but the Bactrim is still in my system and giving me a massive headache and the most horrifying nightmares. I am seeing people and talking to people and FEELING THEM TOUCH ME and they're all in my room and I scream myself awake only to find I'm still in another nightmare and have to shake myself awake again. Whole body tingling and heart pounding. But hey I stopped peeing every two hours.... now I just wet the bed from this freaking horror film in my head. Random crazy images flashing through my head trying to fall asleep. Makes you sensitive to sun!!! Do not take if you're going to be outdoors! (I didn't take it until after my beach vacation but it still had the same effect. I didn't dare go into the sun because I felt disoriented even confused if I was there for any particular time. I had to stay in the shade while I worked. Even in 70 degree temperatures I was sweating and of course I was drinking a lot of liquids anyway because I was warned of this medication crystalizing in kidneys to those who dehydrate. The bottle only warns of direct sunlight, but this was inaccurate for me I could not deal with the heat at all. I ended up being highly irritable at its worst and was yelling. Everyday the fatigue was significant after taking the morning dose. In about 20 minutes I would also feel anxious and irritable as well. In cooler temperatures, the difference was night and day in how I felt. I don't think I want to use this medication again. I feel awful for some of the things I said while I was so miserable. I still have two more pills left and good riddance after sticking it out. For its intended purpose, the medication worked great. Cleared the infection right up. I don't want to give it a high number however because how bad I might feel was not represented adequately. The fact that it fell 20 degrees hotter outside than it actually was to me and that it caused me to be so irritable I snapped and didn't even remember what I said, that's why I'm giving it such a low review and probably never taking it again if I can help it. | M | 40 | 7 days H 49 2X day | 7/16/2021 | 1 | Kidney infection/UTI | Had horrible head aches and weakness from Cipro. Without even examine my toe, he said we're going to have to remove my big toe nail (and I do foot modeling, I got this paranychia from an untrained nail tech). He scheduled it for 6 days from today and I'm hoping like heck this works. I was scared to take it due to these horrible side effects, but I'm going on day 3 & still haven't really experienced anything bad. I do have food on my tummy when I take it, and I take it with a full glass of water. The only slightly uncomfortable side effect I've felt is a light nausea feeling when I wake up in the morning (before I taken the pill that morning and before I've eaten. I believe it's just because my tummy is empty. I just order my favorite Starbucks breakfast delivery and take it after I eat and I'm fine. I noticed some pts. said they get increased anxiety with this, that really scared me because I already have increased anxiety & PTSD and I couldn't handle it if it were any worse, but I haven't had any problems (but I do take my prescribed Xanax the same as I always have/2-4 times a day as needed...so maybe that helps with that side effect.
