1  Trying to wean off of xanax. Valium did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. I was hyper, blood pressure through the roof, could not sit still. After reading all of the glowing reviews, I feel like the odd one out. This drug is not for me. F 75 1 days

1  Anxiety, Menopause Horribly addictive; incredibly difficult to taper off. I succeeded the third time I attempted it, after getting help from the UK Benzo site, Benzo.org.uk. I developed terrible constipation, anxiety between doses, breathing problems, nightly nightmares, fatigue, catastrophizing, etc. Stay away from Benzos. I managed to get off of it, but it had such a terrible effect on my mental and physical health. I know plenty who still can't get off Benzos. The side effects from tolerance are horrendous. It took me four months to taper off, and the withdrawal was hellish. I'd say that it took a whole other year for the withdrawal symptoms to fully recede. Then I developed breast cancer, and I really wonder if it wasn't related to the decade of valium and the effect it had on my health. F 60 10 years

1  Insomnia DO NOT TAKE VALIUM OR ANY BENZODIAZEPINE EVER!! I had over 150 horrible withdrawal symptoms from a cold turkey. DO NOT TAKE VALIUM OR ANY BENZODIAZEPINE! All benzo's are highly addicting, I c/t off Valium after using it for a sleep aid. I had over 150 horrible withdrawal symptoms ranging from chemical anxiety, tacycardia, heart pals, memory loss, hair loss, auditory hallucinations, depression, insomnia, suicide ideation, dizziness, tinnitus, could not walk, horrible fear, agorophobic, numbness, muscle spasms, severe hair loss (lost 50% of my hair) and many other symptoms. It's easier to come off heroin than a benzo. If you are on a benzo google the Ashton Manual and NEVER come off this dangerous drug cold turkey. I am almost 4 years off from this poison which I call the devil and I am healed. Most docctors are clueless about this class of drugs. AVOID ALL BENZO'S. F 50 6 years

1  Dystonia caused from amitriptyline Slowly lost all muscle control. It only took 2 months till...i Could not hold head up or walk or speak. Tongue is a muscle so I could not enunciate words. Had to put towels under the door to block food smells because I had sever nausea. Went from 115 lbs to 105 lbs. Drs had no idea why I was so sick. They ran blood tests etc. They said there was no was 5mg could be making that sick. They were clueless. The Neuro transmitters were so flipped ..i was a strict vegetarian that could now only eat meat, I crawled because I could no longer walk. I was in hell.it took a doctor friend that heard my growls for words on the phone to realize it was the valium and he said to stop taking it immediately. It took months and months for my brain to heal. All benzodiazepines should only be used a few weeks. I would only take it for a day or two . And never drink or drive or text on this medication. You will look normal but it won't be you F 48 2 months

1  Stress Anxiety from divorce Blurred vision, brain zaps, horrendous fatigue, sensitivity to light & sound, muscle cramps, muscle pains & joints pains, muscle spasms, tinnitus, dry skin, chemical sensitive can use moisturisers, nosebleeds, numbness or tingling, apathy, ANXIETY, depression, rage, despair, hopelessness, hullucinations, depersonalisation, derealisation, FEAR, PANIC ATTACKS, jitteriness, unable to concentrate, nightmares, paranoia, scared of leaving house or doing things, social phobia, rapid mood, eye twitches, feels like spiders biting my skin or splinters, walking uncoordinated, neck & shoulder pain, HEADACHES, muscle wasting, weight loss, servere headaches, vertigo, dizziness, high blood pressure, hypertension, shivering & always cold, HEART PALPITATIONS, trouble going to urinate, constipation, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach cramps, no libido, PAINFUL MENSTRUAL CYCLE, irregular periods, most bedridden periods know pain shooting down legs & sciatica pain, heartburn, night sweats, rashes, SUICIDAL THOUGHTS, memory loss, no confidence to do things, disturbia in general life at lack of abilities lost. I would not recommend this to anyone unless it was a life or death situation. A single one off dose. You will become dependant within 9 days & have protracted long term w/d symptoms as above mentioned. Everyday for me is hell & in so much pain & anxiety like I have never know I know have PTSD because of this drug. It is unforgivable that it is prescribed knowing the rebound defeats any short term benefit. I consider any benefit forfeited for the pain too withdraw if your strong enough & don't kill yourself trying to survive wave after wave of horrendous w/d tolerance symptoms. Please do reconsider any Benzodiazepines as you about to destroy your mental & physical health, it's a long road years back into healing, something the medical profession won't tell you, only victims of this drug.  1  Anxiety and panic attacks The most horrendous drug ever. My life is ruined...I would NEVER have taken this if my doctor had been knowledgable about this highly addictive pill. Now I can't get off it and believe me I've tried everything. My life is in pieces due to the horrific side effects. I spend my days alone and in constant detox pain. The side effects when your body needs more, and it will, are crushing. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. F 54 8 years

1  Anxiety/depression This is a follow up to a previous review. The other review I mentioned that a co worker offered me some valium after saying I was dealing with depression/anxiety. This was a very big mistake and my fiance did have some control issues and wasnt keen on me taking this...I really should've listened to her though. My dr was the main problem since he was careless and would leave patients on meds for way too long and made the mistake of tapering off myself after reading an angst filled site that pointed out that valium can cause tinnitus and quickly went off. This drug really was only intended for short term use, some might have to be on it for longer perhaps but that isnt the norm. It works well but the low rating is the problems it might cause when the prescriber is careless. Never should I have taken any meds for my condition since they do not get to the root of the problem. Thanks and be safe! M 41 2 years

1  Dr was an imbecile Memory issues, zero rem sleep, fatigue, tolerance and withdrawal A coworker offered me this after I mentioned I was dealing with depression/anxiety...that was the second biggest mistake of my life. The first biggest mistake was being in a relationship with a controlling fiance that ruined my life, how I didn't see the red flags from the start and ditched the relationship will forever haunt me. I started dealing with depression/anxiety not long after the relationship started and I don't usually take crap from anybody but this person was a professional manipulator and I was an unsuspecting victim. My Dr at first wouldn't prescribe it saying it was addictive and after giving me something else that made me worse he gave me a bottle of over a hundred pills and kept me on it over two years. After awhile the drug did nothing and had to increase my dose...this was a sign to stop. After awhile I developed tinnitus and came across a terrible website ran by a person that despised big pharma, the site said value can cause tinnitus and right away I started tapering off without telling my Dr which wasn't the best idea but I was sick and tired of my Dr leaving me on meds forever. Two weeks after a one month taper I started having severe w/d and didn't realize it was from stopping the valium since I stopped it weeks before. I mentioned to my Dr that I needed something for anxiety and he never asked about the valium! The other pill was too short lasting and I ended up getting much worse. My Dr wasn't paying attention to meds and was beyond careless. M 41 2 years

1  Social anxiety disorder None while on the medication except for occasional loss of memory. Worked wonders for my anxiety. THIS IS POISON! DO NOT START TAKING IT!!! Yes, this worked wonders for my anxiety, in fact, it's the only thing that really works for me; however, if and when you decide to get off whether by choice or because you've reached tolerance, you will go through absolute hell because of withdrawal. Be prepared to experience hell on earth for about 18 months after you stop. DO NOT stop cold turkey. You can have seizures or die. Talk to your doctor about tapering off but even then you will go through hell. Valium is meant to be prescribed for temporary use (no longer than 2 weeks). My doctor and many other doctors prescribe benzos (Valium, Xanax, klonipin, Ativan, etc) for months or years. Benzos are dangerous!!! Do your research before you put this poison in your body!!!  1  Anxiety from depression Lack of deep sleep, memory issues, fatigue and tolerance. A coworker offered me some valium one day when I made the horrific mistake of mentioning I was dealing with depression/anxiety. Never should he have offered me any and taking it was retarded. Right after I took it I had a severe headache and my coworker, said maybe it wasn't for me. I should've brought the rest of the pills back the next day!!! Instead three weeks later I decide to take another one and no headache and almost coma like calm. I asked my Dr for valium and he refused saying it was addictive and gave me something else that made me much worse. I then went back to my Dr saying a coworker gave me some valium and right away the Dr gave me a massive bottle of pills...I guess it wasn't addictive after all. Dr kept me on it for over two years the fool and I ended up taking myself off and went through delayed withdrawals and my Dr never even asked about the valium!!! Don't take this stuff, never! You read good things about this but when you go off good luck, these drugs should be banned and the inventors behind them sued till they end up taking them themselves. Thanks Dr Sloan for ruining my life. DO NOT TAKE BENZOS,YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY, I wish I never touched any big pharma med...EVER! Peace M 41 2 years

1  GAD/Meiners/panic attacks It helped with the vertigo but doesn't help the anxiety or panic attacks at all. I had a huge panic attack driving today and I've already taken 10mgs. I was never told this drug would have to be tapered and I'm stuck having to take it. I have read all the forums and with my anxiety I'm scared to try to taper reading all the bad reactions ppl have with it. F 46 3 years

1  Panic Disorder Made my body feel very heavy, and like my legs were rubbery. Had difficulty with walking and coordination. Also felt dizzy and somewhat high; eyes felt heavy and sleepy. Did not like. Prescribed an alternative to lorazepam saying it wears off more quickly. I definitely prefer Ativan. It find that it works quickly and effectively to relieve panic by calming the mind and relaxing the body, but not so much that it makes it difficult to function. F 43 1 days
