5  Psoriatic Arthritis Mild nausea and sleepiness right after injection, if done at night it is gone by morning. I had some hair loss but started taking folic acid daily which fixed that. Humira has really changed my life. Before taking Humira I was often unable to open doors or hold silverwear or even button my own pants, and now my hands work perfectly. I would put up with nearly any side effect for the amount of good it has done me! F 27 4 years

5  PsA Brief stinging as it is being injected. No worse than a flu shot. I am back to 95% of mobility with this drug. It has been a miricle drug for me. I am very careful with hand washing. I actually get sick less often. However if you get to feeling run down and start having symptoms of cold or such DO NOT wait to see if it will get better. It wont and by the time you feel sick you will be much sicker than you feel. Don't chance it and just go in. F 36 10 months

5  Chrohn's/iritis Passed out the first time (4 shots in 1 hour was just too much). Slightly painful injections and lately slight fatigue. I was put on Humira because my Crohn's disease was causing a very resistant Iritis, other than that I had been fairly symptom free for 3 years. After the second injection my ophthalmologist saw very little inflammation in my eyes and after my fourth injection there was zero inflammation. I'm grateful for humira, but I'm hopefully I can go off it in 4 months because the potential side effects and some of the reviews on here scare me. F 36 2 months

5  Psoriasis and Psoriatic arthritis None that I can directly attribute to Humira. Long time psoriasis sufferer. Humira has been a miracle drug for me. I went from ~ 20% overall psoriasis coverage to less than 1%. It has eliminated the pitting and lifting of my nails. I have mild psoriatic arthritis, and the Humira has basically elimated the arthritic pain that I had before going on the drug. Have not experienced any side effects while on the drug. M 39 8 months

I've seen so many discouraging postings about humira and it makes me sad for those people and those reading it because humira has changed my life!  5  Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis Very hard injection to take especially on legs, even with using ice beforehand.Short Term Memory seems to be disimproving, localised swelling on injection site, fatigued for a day or two after injecting. Had psoriasis since I was 7, nearly 40 years now, went through every possible treatment, some good, some bad. Humira has completely cleared my psoriasis and pains are totally gone. This year I learned how to swim-imagine that-for me the psycholigical benefits far outweigh the possible adverse effects, it will probably kill me in the end but being clear of psoriasis after 40 years makes me feel "normal" and that is having a thremendous effect on my quality of life and even on my relationship with me wife.It is a matter of choice-take the chance and probably be free of psoriasis-or live life covered up..I know which one I prefer.  5  Ulcerative Colitis I was very sleepy for the first 3 days after injections, for several months. After that though, no side effects. This drug has been a life changer for me.  5  Psoriasis no side effects! After maybe 2 shots in the past 7 months of taking them i got a hot rashno bigger that the size of a quarter around the injection site that clearned up after a few days. but NO PSORIASIS! 18 year old, female. started 7 months ago because i suffered from severe psoriasis in my scalp for two years that started to take a large emotional toll on my life. I was very self conscious and used every topical cream out there. Also used a variety of oral pills that had not done the job or did not take well with my body and i had very bad side effects. Humira was my last option and after weighing its possible side effects i chose to take it. Best thing i had ever done. i was entering college, started two weeks before and i'd say about 4 weeks into college i literally completely forgot i had even had psoriasis. I have no scaling, or peeling, or itchy. I wear black again. All i have to do it take one shot every two weeks. It worked for me when i thought there was no hope, please dont give up! F 18 7 months

5  spondylitis The injection really stings, and for the first six months I had a pretty large site reaction to the injection that lasted several days (the area would be hot, red, swollen). Now the reaction is much less as my body has gotten used to it. I also get sick (bronchitis, sinus infections) very frequently. Humira took a full 3 months of use for me before I got relief. Although, now, I feel incredible. I am running again, and experience no pain. I have needed to be hypervigilant about getting to the doctor as soon as I start to get sick because viruses just take right off into infections within a day or two. F 34 11 months

5  Crohn's Occasional sore throat and general feeling as if I'm starting to get a cold, but this usually only lasts a day or two and no cold develops. Bruise more easily. Some injection site pain after injection, but ice and Tylenol help and its nothing unbearable (completely worth it for results and not having to take tons of pills each day). Bloated feeling the day after injection. Amazing treatment! It took me a long time to get comfortable with the idea of taking a biologic, but the results have been amazing. I feel better than I have felt in over 10 years and my symptoms are finally under control (had NO relief/results with prednisone, Asacol, Pentasa...). I began to see/feel results within 5 days of the initial dose (4 injections) and have gotten increasingly better ever since. I am not 100% better after 5 months, but I would say 85%, which is amazing to me. I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel and have started to think that maybe I won't be sick forever. Benefits FAR outweigh any minor side effect annoyances I have had. Every time I go on a trip I am so amazed and grateful that I don't have to haul along an extra bag for all my meds! Its a serious drug, so do your own research before you decide to go on it, but my experience has been very positive. F 32 5 months

5  Plaque Psoriasis Absolutely None Ive had moderate to severe Plaque Psoriasis for just over 7 years now, after 4 years of different teatments including UV, Oral and topical, nothing was working, nothing would even put a dent in the plaques, finally my dermatologist suggested Humira, afer weighing the pro's and con's I decided to give it a try and boy am I glad, Humira has given me a new lease on life, I recently moved and needed a new prescription for it, afraid of the plaques returning, I was frantically trying to get in to see a new doctor for the prescription (like a crackhead looking for a fix) That is the only concern I have, is that when you stop taking the injections, the plaques return.. Have been plaque free for 3 years and it has indeed changed my life. no more long sleeve shirts and pants in summertime!!  5  Ulcerative colitis I had an infected mosquito bite. Turned into a real skin infection not really that bad but lasted 2 months. I am SUPER tired for 3-5 days after my injection. I have a life again. I can eat. I don't worry about what or where or if Im gonna have to have a BM. I cant even remember the last time I had pain. Which was a daily thing for years. I gained 35 lbs! I did remicade and had serum sickness. As I told my GI doc- yeah I only poop once a day- but I can't walk! Remicade didn't work nearly as well. So glad I got a reaction. I LOVE Humira. Hate to think that I will have to requalify every year (per my current insurance). Hate to think that I might flare again someday. This is the first respite I have had from my disease. F 44 3 months

I dont like to inject my legs as they are very sore for a couple of days and I walk alot. But for the most part.. I have done extremely well on this drug. Aside from the weight gain, I am very happy with my results. As another poster stated, not every drug is for everyone. It took me 4 years and many many many drugs to agree to inject myself.  5  psoriatic arthritis Pain and swelling after injection. I have bruised badly in injection site. Painful to inject. Lower back tingles sometimes, not sure if it is related. No other issues. Before using Humira I could barely walk. I had poor quality of life for about four months due to the pain from arthritis in my left foot and neck. I developed psoriasis when I was nine on my scalp. When I was 22 I noticed my psoriasis was worsening, spreading to other areas, and I had foot and neck pain. The pain from the arthritis became so severe I don't know how I got out of bed everyday. I thought I was going to become disabled. It took 11 months to get diagnosed with PA. Since taking this medicine I do not have any symptoms of psoriasis or arthritis!!! No pain, no itchy scalp! The injections are difficult for me. I can not do it myself, I tried once and injected the air. It is painful for me as well. It is all very worth it for my results. I have had no illnesses. I did get a flu shot and swine flu shot, as it was recommended for people that take this med. This started to work the next day after taking! Within the first month I was 80% better...now at 100%.  5  Fistulizing Crohns I have no side affects not even a swelling on the injection site, i feel very lucky, having read many of the other comments about humira and how it makes others feel. What i would recommend is not to inject into the leg it hurts like hell but into the stomach, the drug can be left out of the fridge for 15 minutes, wait the 15 mins before injecting it is far less painful. My crohns is in complete remission but there is no signs of the fistulas healing yet. I am forever the optimist. Does anyone else have Fistulizing crohns and has your fistula healed.  5  psoriasis Small cuts (hang nails, nicks) don't heal - I have had some for months now. No other notable side effects. I also have IBS and have not noticed any changes (worsening or otherwise) in my symptoms. No side effects after injections, not even site reaction. I am 100% CLEAR from psoriasis and have been after about a month and a half of taking Humira. This has changed my life and improved my quality of life ten fold. I have has psoriasis since I was about 9 - over 10 years now. For the first time since I was a child I can wear tshirts, bathing suits, dresses, and not think about my P every hour of everyday. I had P on arms, legs, torso, and scalp. The injections suck and they do hurt more than the average needle. But the pain is nothing compared to what pain from P was. I prefer the prefilled syringe as I had problems with the autoinjector pen injecting prematurely (user error - I couldn't hold it into my skin firmly enough due to nerves and it injected twice into the air - 2 wasted needles!). I inject in upper legs. F 20 4 months

5  CROHN'S This is a follow-up to my 10/27/07, 02/25/08 & 02/05/08 postings. I’ve taken Humira since late 2007. One shot every 15-18 days. Taking the shot just before bedtime is how I deal with the occasional headache following the shot. However, the headache is not nearly as severe as in the beginning . . . no big deal really. I had a difficult time recovering from the Flu in 08 . . . ended up with bronchitis. This is the first drug that has worked for me other than prednisone. . . I had catastrophic reactions to Sulfasalazine, Asacol, Dipentum and Imuran before finding Humira. I’m free of all Crohn’s symptoms. M 51 3 years

5  Psorisasis None that I can discern. Have taken about 10 subcutaneous injections so far without any obvious side effects. I'm a 60 y.o. male and the Psoriasis came out of nowhere. No family history of it. I had been taking Atenolol, a beta blocker, for about 5 years prior to the Psoriasis and there appears to be a possible "link" between Psoriasis and Atenolol. I just changed to another beta blocker (Toprol-XL) and we'll see if that makes a difference. The Humira is working very well. Most of the plaque is gone and the original spots are now just faded pink. My dermatologist says these should continue to clear. So far, so good. M 60 100 days

5  Crohns, Ankylosing Spondylitis, RA Pain/redness at injection site (pain lasts just a couple min - redness no longer than 24hrs) also I started to have teeth problems a few months after taking humira. Have had molars break and crumble and I recently had started getting cavaties(I am a person who has never had any cavities growing up etc) Dentist and oral surgeon said its more likely due to Crohns than meds so not sure if its really related to Humira or not. I have been on all sorts of different "cocktails of meds" at one point was taking 36 pills daily. Admittedly I am horrible at taking daily medications so this was even better with only having to take it every 2 weeks. I have had multiple bowel resections, appendix and gallbladder removed as well due to Crohns. When I developed the ankylosing spondilytis and the RA I was litterally bed bound it was extreme pain to move and do anything. Sleeping was horrible as well due to pain in my spine. I remember laying in the bath tub multiple times a day for months in super hot water just to get some relief to be able to move about. Since taking the humira my quality of life has improved so much that if I could not take it I really do not know what I would Even if tooth loss is a genuine side effect of the humira - I would still take it - I would just know my dentist alot more than I already do lol. My only real big complaint is the cost. Without insurance it costs $4,000 for a months supply for me (2 injections), thankfully I have insurance so I don't have that huge of out of pocket expense but its still pretty hefty. F 31 3 years
