He prescribed Provera 5mg 3xday. I started taking it a few days before I was due as advised and continued taking it 3x a day, however on day 4 my period came...I thought it may be spotting so continued the Provera but it turned out to be a full on bleed. I obviously hadn't taken any sanitary protection (as I didn't think I'd need it!) I stopped the hormone and continued to bleed for a further 10 days, a lot longer than my usual cycle. It eventually stopped but after a week, I have had cramps and spotting and feel sure I am about to start again. All in all, for me it was a waste of time and money. I had to pay more for sanitary protection abroad and was self conscious around the pool, all the things I wanted to avoid in the first place. | I was very dry below as a side effect and as I was on holiday, pads wern't really an option. I found it very uncomfortable inserting and removing tampons.
